Preparing Stems for Mixing

  • All stems must be in WAV format

  • Remove any limiting or compression from the master bus/stereo out before bouncing

  • Ensure each of your individual tracks and the master are not clipping

  • Uncheck any “normalize” feature in your DAW when bouncing/exporting

  • Including a rough mix, as well as 1-3 reference tracks can help cut down on revisions by giving me a better understanding of the direction for the song

  • I will leave it up to you whether to include reverb and delay in your bounced stems. If you include it, your sound will be locked in the way you like. If you remove reverb and delay I will have more control

  • Please name stems in a helpful way

  • Compress your stems into a zipped folder, and use a service such as Google Drive, DropBox, or Firefox Send to send me the files at mx.mr.mgmt@gmail.com

  • Please contact me with any questions before sending your stems to make sure we can get off to a great start!
